These are some pointless suggestions, but it might help out the IC aspect.
I use to run Conquer Armed Forces awhile back and I learned several techinques on mixing gunplay and RP.
For instance, if there is a gunfight taking place in town, then I think there should be an emitloud post about it so that everyone knows whats going on. Same goes for transition between night and day so everyone is on the same page. Like an emitloud update on time and weather maybe?

Well the night and day aspect is a can-do by my own ds experience and soon once I get a skin commissioned and done I'll be incorporating night, day, rain, dust, and many more things but until then I will make a script to let everyone know. -- However now thinking it over a bit if the DS emits that it is say 8:00 in the night and someone comes after that emit how do they know what time it is, they could think its still day.
And now to the gunfight one -- great idea I must say but I lack the scripting knowledge to make it happen, if you could show me the script or explain to me how to do it I will put it in immediately because I love that idea, makes me think of high-noon scenes outside the Saloon xD

Hmm I think for the case of the gunfight, instead of using emits and stuff we might wanna use shouts in case neither of the admins are around when it happens.

I was thinking something like just having one of the participants with share emitloud a message of gunshots. The shout works too.

The question would be more of who really if it came down to emits.

Well time has been integrated with Bells and everything *proud* Thanks in part to our own Peggy Wilson for aiding me with some coding. *pats her on the mane*. So now we can focus solely on the gunfighting aspect.
I see both sides of the argument and the pros and cons of both. Lance is right in that we need some way to signal that there is a gunfight or just plain old RP in general so people feel less left out but Gath is also right in that just emits in that sense could have drawbacks if there is no one with share. I think (I've seen this in other dreams) We could have RP hotspots where people can congregate whilst looking for RP buddies and the RP can move onward from there, say like around the Saloon area would be a general hotspot of activity in the west. Gunfights could be signified by simple silent prefix phrases such as "*gunfight saloon" And the emit at this point would say something along the lines of "The piercing sounds of gunfire echo through town. Seems like its coming from the Saloon. Wonder if I should go check it out.." Or something like that.

Yeah and maybe some draw specific DS? Like if someone challenges another to a draw in the center of town it could have a specific code line that would announce the beginnig of a draw to bring a crowd of people to watch..

hmm sounds interesting, how do you suggest we should go about it?

Same way Colten was planning. Have a specific word command that does it. You could make it a hidden command with a prefix such as..
@draw
Then it emits a message letting everyone know something is going down on the main strip of road.
You can set the @ as a silent prefix command so that anything you say in the dream with @ in front of it is hidden, so it doesn't show up to others when you say it.

We already have a silent prefix in use (*) so we would use that, But I think we will institute my idea with designated areas and I will make a map labeling each individual area. I leave it up to you folks to decide however what areas you believe would be the best candidates for RP areas to be labels (aside from the Saloon, thats a given) So give a name and description of the areas you think should be designated RP hotspots.

Ok well since you folks havn't chosen any spots you think should be deemed major RP crossroads I will name some for you all and you can request more as you please n.n A map of the town and new DS commands will be here soon (*at work so can't do it now otherwise he would*)
The new commans will be similar to the following example:
Your-Name-Here: "*Saloon" (* makes it a silent command)
[Emit]: Gunfire is heard in the direction of the Saloon, you feel it might be worthwhile to head over and take a look-see.

I'd say the road between the sheriff's and the train station for sure is one of the hot spots

Hahaha, yeah. The good doctor's porch is a fine place to congregate.
