Hartford doesn't really have a journal that she keeps, but I thought this would be a good place to post letters that Hartford and her family send to each other. (Completely made up by me, I don't have anyone to play her family or anything, just for the progression of her story and stuff like that.)
I'll be adding more whenever something comes up.

(2 letters received on the same day, guess the mail was backed up. darn natives holding up the postman.. ) Dear Hartford, We all miss you very much, I want you to know that. It was hard to watch my baby get onto that train... I wasn’t ready for you to leave the nest, I reckon, but we didn’t have much of a choice, did we? You are in my thoughts; I hope that you are doing well. I know it must be difficult being away in a new place, but you’re strong, I know you are. Things back home are going well. Your father is doing better, he isn’t sick any longer; we can finally get some work done on the farm. Your brothers are still too young to do much work, I’m afraid. Their birthday is coming up soon, I hope you are able to write to them and say hello, they talk about you all the time. Well I’ve let this drag on too long.. I felt like I was talking to you though and I suppose I got carried away, sweetie. Best wishes, we all miss you and wish you the best. With love, Mother
Dear Hartford, You haven’t written back yet... I wonder if you’ve gotten my last letter, or if it has gotten lost on the plains! I can’t help but worry about you… Please, if you can, write to me. To know that you are settled in and doing well would put me at ease. Take care, Mother

Mother – I’m sorry! I meant to write. Things are going well. The town is nice, the people are friendly. I’m working for now; the money isn’t too glamorous, but I will send you what I can. Tell Pops I said hello, and the twins too. (Happy birthday to them!) I love you Ma, thanks for writing. - Hart

Dear Hartford, I just got your letter. You seemed rushed! I suppose you're keeping busy with your work. I'm glad to hear that.. Are you eating well? I don't want you coming home all wasted away. And have you made any new friends? Things back home have been better... your father seems to be sick again. It's off and on, but this time it seems to have gotten worse. I've been trying to keep up with the work, but there is just too much to be done around here. Even your brothers have tried to help out with small chores.. I hate to ask you to come back right when you're settling in... but things are getting rough, honey. Let us know if you meet any farmhands in need of work on your travels, send them our way... Loving and missing you, Mother

Hartford, I am your mother, and you know that I love you, but I'm afraid I have to be harsh on you. You were sent away to do a job, did you forget that? I'm sorry if you're too swept up in your new life away from home and have forgotten your responsibilities. This is a wake up call, I suppose. The farm is in trouble. I hate to do this, dear, but you've got two options, the way I see it: come home and work or send us the money you have been making. Write back as soon as possible with your decision. We still love you, Mother.
