A young feline in what appeared to be her early twenties slipped nervously from a side entrance of the once well-to-do row house. She only had a short amount of time before her Mistress would be returning so she would have to hurry the three blocks to the post and back before then. Gripping the carefully penned letter in her gloved paw, she quickened her pace as gentlemen, delicately plumed ladies perched at their elbow, slipped past her. On any other day, the expensive stationary would have carried the fluid pleasantries of her aging mistress but today it held a simple plea, a cry for freedom disguised as a single paragraph:
Young lady of good family and education, fair and good looking, would like to correspond with some gentleman of position wanting a wife, one who would be willing to take her without a dollar, as she has nothing to offer but herself.
A soft blush spread beneath her cheekfur as she recalled the words she had taken almost a week to fully force from the pen. Of course, there had been any number of things she had also wished to add but space was limited as much so as her wages which had taken nearly six months in addition to accumulate as it were. But if she succeeded in finding a partner in all of this, then she felt she could truly start her life over and live peacefully in the rolling hills out west.. Or so the tales went.
Suddenly the post was upon her, the building looming into the afternoon's hazy sky and causing her heart to beat a little harder at the thought of all these months waiting finally coming to fruition.
Taking a breath to calm her nerves, she pushed through the doorway and swayed up to the counter. The clerk merely raised a brow as she tried to smile but ended up a mixture of lop-sided distress instead. Passing the precious note to him she couldn't help but startle as he stamped it with a 'THUD' and placed it onto the growing pile of outgoing letters waiting to be sorted.
Now all that was left was to wait for a reply*.

((Hello, all~ Just a couple quick words to clarify some things. I tried to fish for RP bites with this storyline before in a different venue (Second Life) and got nary a nibble. I prefer Furcadia anyway as I've been around more or less since 2001 and roleplaying since 2002. It doesn't matter to me what sort of characters might answer poor Margarette's advertisement and I'm prepared for the less than savory as well. I think it would be fun and on the entertaining side so no worries either way. I am an easygoing roleplayer and take unexpected plot twists as an opportunity to build my characters. I can also distinguish OOC from IC. It's Margarette looking for a husband, not her player! xD Looking forward to playing with you all!))
