Things went according to plan in Brenton. Ralph had dressed up as a wounded indian to keep his identity secret while boarding the train. Bandages over his scarred eye and throat both told tales that gave reasons for him to keep quiet and from under suspicion. Very simple, but it still proved to be quite effective. The voice of his travelling companion was a lot of help as well, as much as he hated to admit it. Whenever it was necessary to speak and he couldn't communicate, she'd done so for the both of them. He was still reluctant about bringing her along; but there was no more choice in the matter now. They'd already reached Brooklyn and even spent a night there.
As Ralph stood at the window to the hotel room he shared with the girl and watched the day begin outside, he wondered about how things were going in Brenton. If anybody followed the trail left, they'd find the "mauled" coat that belonged to him. Hopefully, that'd be enough to convince people he died from an animal attack of some sort. Out of everybody there were at least the a possible two that would know if he was still alive though. Gathero was there to hear the whole plan, as well as be a huge contributing factor to it. Ralph made sure to drop him a small thankyou note before leaving and wasn't going to forget the little errand he needed to run either.
He managed to say goodbye to Chosovi before departing as well, even got something for the short reunion. He kept the little treasure in his pocket rather than wearing it though. A grungy-looking indian wearing a nice piece of jewelry like that was probably going to look just as suspicious as that scar on his face were it uncovered. He'd left something with her too - pretty much all he had left aside from his guns. Ralph didn't know what else to give her, but hopefully she would've liked the present as much as he treasured hers.
There were several others he wanted to drop a line to as well; but if he did, the whole charade would've been for nothing. He'd have to write under an alias sometime - as soon as he was able to make his penmanship readable. That was going to have to wait. For now, he had to take care of a few things before settling down in this new, temporary lifestyle. First thing would be finding Gathero's friend after breakfast.
Sighing, "Ohanzee" moved away from the window and padded to the dresser, picking up the bandages that went with his disguise. Setting one over his left eye and wrapping the other about his throat, he'd look over to the bed where Azia should've been sleeping. He got up fairly early to see what he could get done before she noticed he was gone. As far as he saw it, the less she got involved, the better. It wasn't until after he left the room that he realized he was going to need a voice.
Grunting in a bit of frustration, he just headed downstairs to order breakfast and wait. At least he could do that without speaking...

[Posts transferred from the dream. Works quicker sometimes~ x3]
Azia awoke alone in the room, a faint frown on her features as she looked around. Figuring he went to get something to eat, she pulled on a simple buckskin dress, and wandered down to the dinning area. Finding Ohanzee she smiled a little and moved to sit down across from him, "I need to go to the bank today, and we need to go to a seemstress." She said with a soft smile, before ordering some eggs.
Ralph was having an omelette himself. Bacon, peppers, sausage...eating good for once on his own. He even had a glass of orange juice on the side and some toast. Hearty breakfast, good Ralph! When Azia showed up, his ears perked up when she took a seat, his uncovered eye watching her curiously. After a little thought, he'd give a small nod, though wonder where to fit that into the day's agenda. Still had to find...Roger. Yes, that was it. He remembered now. That man Gathero wanted to find was named Roger...Roger what though...
Azia smiled a little, "I need to pick some things up... get some things... after that we can do whatever you want." she said with a smile. "Though I think we'll only be spending one night here." She said with a sigh. When her food came she smiled and started to eat, daintily.
Ralph continued to sit and stare for a little while before he went back to eating too. Just one night? There was enough money for them to stay for at least half a week, and that was just what he had from Gathero. He didn't see a point in leaving yet, or where they were going to go if they did; but he shrugged. Ralph may as well follow through with it. It wasn't like there was too much to do. As long as this didn't take all day he was fine with it. He wanted to find Gath's friend as soon as he could.
Azia smiled and finished eating in silence. When she was done she stood up, laid some money on the table and started off, "Come on, we need to go to the bank." She said, starting out the door. She seemed in quite the rush to get to the bank, and seamstress.
Ralph's ears perked again when he say the money placed down. Well, that explained how she got a ticket to come on this trip. He thought Gath had something to do with it. Then again, that explained why she wanted to go to the bank as well. Maybe she had more money stashed away? ...Ralph blinked when he thought about something behind that; but shook it off for now, quickly finished his own meal, and rose to follow after her. He'd paid for his food up front, so there were no worries about him getting in trouble for just walking out.
Azia wandered through the streets, she may not have liked crowds, but she was quite adept at navigating them. When they reached the bank she smiled a little to him, "Wait out here." she said, before disapearing into the bank. A few minutes passed by and she apeared again, handing him a wad of money that looked like it was easily fifty dollars.
Ralph looked about the street while he waited on her...actually, he was going to do so across the street. The bank was probably going to have posters of him nearby too and that would've been pretty bad for his disguise. When Azia returned, he stared in disbelief as he was handed the money. Now he was even more suspicious, and it showed in the look he gave her as he'd slip the cash under his pancho. Just who exactly was this lady!?
Azia smiled a little and held a finger to her lips, explaining she'd explain later. "Come, the seamstress is this way." she said before wandering off once more. When they finaly came to the place she slipped inside, and beckoned him to follow.
The old lady that sat there looked up at Azia and smiled, "Miss Scott, we've been expecting you." she said, standing up and wandering over to pinch Azia's cheeks. "And who's this handsome lad with you?" she asked, looking over Azia's shoulder at Ralph.
"His name is Ohanzee aunt Ruth. We're here to get myself a dress." she said with a smile.
Ralph stared blankly at the old woman when they arrived at the store, though made sure to keep out of reach so she didn't pinch his cheeks too. He would just stand off to the side, looking about indifferently after giving the lady a bow. Azia said "Aunt Ruth"? So then she did have relatives? What were the odds they'd be in Brooklyn? He guessed this was karma coming back to bite him for keeping secrets, but Ralph didn't like being kept in the dark much either. An expensive withdrawal from the bank and now this...what was next?
Azia smiled a little at her aunt. "Well...Aunt Ruth, what do you think would suite me?" she said, before meeping as her aunt drug her off, beckoning Ohanzee to follow into the dressing and fitting room.
"Hmm... well... are you two together? You'd make such a cute couple... your father always wanted you to find someone like yourself." She said. Azia could only blush at the typical auntie commments.
Ralph cleared his throat when he saw the gesture from Azia and sent a signal back himself that he'd be watching. He wanted to stay outside. While she was getting fitted for clothing, he could've been scanning the area, looking for anything or anybody that might've stood out, buildings he'd need to do his own shopping at, that sort of thing. Just because he was outside though didn't mean he couldn't hear the conversation, which made his ears flatten. If that lady knew who he was, she definitely wouldn't have been saying that...
A few hours passed easily, aunti Ruth saying embarassing things, and Azia ocationaly making some sort of responce. The door opened after the fourth hour, the old lady standing there and staring out at Ohanzee, "Come on in... your little Azia is ready for you." That got a groan from Azia in the next room over.
The lady lead Ralph to the fitting room where Azia stood. She was wearing a soft green dress, the chest a corset style, that showed off her curves nicely, while from the waist down the dress poofed out a little, but hardly as much as most dresses of the time. Azia was looking off to the side, her hands clasped infront of her, a faint blush on her cheeks. Her hair had been done up too, curled and tied up behind her, two locks falling down to frame her face. Her aunt had put make up on her as well... she hated make up.
Ralph had fallen asleep on out front by then. Just how long did this kind of business take!? When he was finally roused, the wolf sighed and stepped inside - stuck coming in after all. His irritation turned into surprise when he rounded the corner and caught a glimpse of Azia. He almost didn't recognize her at all! It was a complete turn in the other direction from how she normally looked. The blank stare of awe on his face pretty much expressed that she looked quite pretty in the dress - more like a young lady even rather than the kid he perceived her as. Coughing when he finally snapped to his senses, he nodded in approval and glanced off to the side himself to try keeping his embarrassment from showing. Staring again...
Azia cheeks reddened more and she looked down, giggling a little. Anuti Ruth just smiled and said, "Well Azia, since you're family I'll only charge you 45 dollars... a third of the usual price."
Azia nodded and hugged her aunt. "Ohanzee has the money." she siad before walking over to stand besdie him. "Thank you again Aunti." she'd say after they had paid.
"Any time deary, just come back whenever you need clothes." Standing outside of the seamstress Azia looked up at Ohanzee and blushed.
Ralph's jaw nearly did drop at the price. It cost that much for that much time fitting somebody with a dress? He could've bought himself a small arsenal with that kind of money! He couldn't really complain since it wasn't his money in the first place, but jeez! Composing himself, "Ohanzee" dug the cash he was given earlier out of his pancho and handed it to Ruth. He was starting to question his old career a lot more. Why hijack carriages when you could rob people blind legally?
Azia smiled up at Ohanzee, "Sorry it took so long." She siad before starting off towards the better side of town. "When we're up on the good side, you're my servant. Got it?" she asked him, "It'd be easiest that way."
Ralph walked alongside Azia as they went through town. staring in disbelief at what his new role was. Now wait just a minute! Wasn't she the one that was supposed to be following him around all this time? How did that get switched? He wished he could've voiced his opinion right now; but all that came out when he, for the first time in a long time, did try to talk was a raspy, hushed growl. Ralph's ears flattened in frustration while he continued to walk along quietly, reluctantly falling into step behind Azia but keeping close all the same. And where were they supposed to be going anyway?
Azia would stop at what seemed to be a rather high class hotel. Stepping into she'd smile to the key keeper. "Hello, I need a room for my servant and myself, preferably a nice private place, I get headaches around so many people." She lied expertly to the man, who could only nod. As he went to the back she turned to Ralph, "Looking rich gets you into places wherep eople won't look for you." she said with a smile before looking back to the key keeper and smiling as he got a bellhop to take them to their room.
Ralph watched all this silently. He waited until they were alone again before he'd point out something. Residing in another hotel was fine and all...kind of. He wasn't used to it, but he'd adjust. He'd go back to the old place and grab their belongings even later on that day. That wasn't the problem he had. The problem was what he was pointing to - his bandages. He wasn't sure, but wasn't walking around with an injured servant seen as some kind of embarrassment? Ralph had never seen the rich types he robbed hanging about a servant with so much as a hangnail before, so this was...different? Did he stand out?
On the way up the bellhop asked Azia about her 'servant', figuring that he couldn't understnad what he said. "So... what's wrong with him? Why don't you get another." Azia glared at him, "He was injured saving my mother, bless her soul, from a bandit lowlife! Don't question me about my servants!" Her tone scared the boy and he shut up. "Here's your room." he said before scurrying off. The room was lavished in beauty, not an inch of it not covered in the finest materials. There was a single bed, and a cot off to the side, for the servant. Azia closed the door and smiled, wrapping her arms around 'Ohanzee' "Looks like you get the cot." she teased.
Ralph sighed heavily. He couldn't believe that story was even bought, but...oh well. At least there was an alibi if somebody else asked now. With the attitude Azia had to boot, not too many questions should've been asked...at least he hoped as much. Staring down to the girl whileshe hugged him and then about the room, Ralph let out another huff. Okay, he could live with sleeping on the cot. Azia should've felt more comfortable in a place like this too, so she didn't need to cling to him through another night. He could live with that too, honestly.
Azia smiled up at him and stood on her tiptoes, kissing his chin lightly, "I was joking." she said with a soft smile, "Think I'd give uo my snuggle time?" she asked with a small smile before she wandered over to the balcony. Throwing the curtains out to the side she sighed, "I do kinda miss this life..."
Ralph glowered at her a little. She could snuggle on the cot then, because that was what he was planning on taking regardless. It reminded him of the beds back at the old hotel and he liked those. This kind of life was never something he was able to get into himself. It felt too stuffy. Azia was a fine example of that with how she was dressed right now. Even if she did look nice, she had to be uncomfortable in that dress, didn't she? What if he ever got stuck in clothing like that? He'd probably go nuts, and...wait, what'd she mean by "this life"? If Azia turned to face him, she'd notice Ralph's head tilted inquisitively while he watched her.
Azia looked over her shoulder at him and laughed, "Oh yes... the man and woman who took me in where very kind to me, they had recently lost their daughter, and treated me as if I where their own... they lived like this." she said with a smile. She walked over towards him and looked down at the dress, "Do you like it? I'm not sure it suites me... Aunt Ruth is usualy very good, but I don't know..."
Ralph guessed that made more sense now; but now he was wondering what that sort of girl was doing helping an outlaw like this, or for that matter, why she was so different when they first met. Too many questions and no way to ask. Pity. It made him want to get away to keep her out of trouble all the more; but he still knew he was stuck. Sighing at the thought, he'd look at Azia when she approached again and nod with a light smile. The new look really was a huge change on her appearance. Hard for him to say she was the same person anymore even if he did know it. This was going to take a little getting used to...
Azia smiled softly and turned to face away from him, "Yes well... I only need this when we are out and about." she said, seeming to want him help her undo her dress. She looked over her shoulder at him smiling softly. It seemed that while she could play the little aristocrat, it still wasn't who she was.
Ralph stared for a moment while he tried to figure out what she was getting at. When he finally did, he blinked several times. What was it with her and putting him in these situtatioins? He could understand she trusted him a lot, but it still got under his fur.
Silently, he'd step in closer to undo the corset so she could remove it. And while she was busy with that, he'd already be heading for the door. She could undress herself from there. Without any other clothes to wear since they were all back at the other hotel though, she was going to need something. This seemed as good a time as any to go get them, let her rest up, and then get moving when he returned. It was already getting late in the day and he still hadn't even asked a single person about this Roger character.
Azia smiled softly, "Thankyou." she said, and wandered into the attached bathroom to undress. When he left she'd come out and slip under the covers on the bed waiting for him to get back with her clothes.

Ohanzee [Which Ralph shall be going by for a majority of this thread.] took about an hour to walk from one end of town to where their belongings were and bad, and yet he still wasn't out of breath. Running from the law tended to build quite a bit of stamina. Fortunately, things were uneventful too. Nobody recognized him, the hotel staff let him in without care after the ordeal earlier, so he made it back to the room with little trouble. Knocking on the door first to make sure Azia had a chance to make herself decent, the wolf would cautiously open the door and peek inside after a few seconds.
Azia was under the covers, which where pulled up past her collarbone. SHe had been taking a nap when sheh eard the door open, "Ohanzee?" she asked, hoping it was him and not some crazy who managed to get into the hotel.
Ohanzee couldn't really answer considering he was mute, so would just close the door behind him and move across the floor. If she couldn't get up to make sure it was him, she'd never know. Padding over to the bed, he'd set her belongings down across it, then his own, and give a hearty stretch.
Azia got up when she didn't hear an answer, picking up a nearby candle stick to use as a weapon, she went trapsing through the hotel room looking for the intruder.
Ohanzee stood in the doorframe at that moment coming to greet her. When he saw the naked femme holding a candlestick (or covered if she brought them with her), he blinked a few times in confusion. What was she planning to do with that exactly...?
Azia blinked a little, the candlestick held high before she recognized him, 'Oh, it's you Ohanzee." she siad, lowering the candlestick and smiling, "I was worried that someone broke in while I was asleep. SHe hadn't bgrought covers in case it was someone she didn't know, they'd get in the way of her beating them over the head.
Ohanzee nodded slightly as he understood the situation. Standing there a moment longer, his gaze would finally lower a bit when he realized something amiss; and then he'd quickly whirl around when it finally registered in his mind that she wasn't wearing anything. How many times was this now? You think he'd start getting used to it or something...
Azia giggled a little as it finaly sunk in, "Well... you're the one with my clothes." she said, holding herh and out towards him, so he could hand her, her usual dress. "So, it's not my fault."
Ohanzee stepped out of the doorframe when he realized that and pointed out to the main room where he left them. Making sure to keep his back turned, he'd head back to the door to make sure it was locked an nobody else could barge in on them. As for him, he was wondering about pulling his bandages down over both eyes; but he didn't know if he trusted her to lead a blind man...might lead him right into a streetlamp or something...
Azia giggled a little and got dressed quickly, only to pounceh im from behind when he wasn't looking. SHe'd nibble at his ear and growl playfully, she wanted to wrastle with him.
Ohanzee jumped a little when he was pounced on and tried to look over his shoulder at her, letting out a heavy-breathed growl himself, he'd reach around to catch her and pull her down off his back, giving a shake of his head as he thumbed toward the door. He'd gone with her to run her errands, now they were going to run his. Azia was there with Gathero to hear who they were supposed to be looking for, so it was time to start asking around about Roger while there was still light out.
Azia sighed and stopped trying to play, 'Yeah, yeah. Fine, but I get atl east one wrestle tonight." she said, before slinking out of the hotel room with him, off to find this roger guy.
Ohanzee wondered if he could think of a way to get out of that. Actually...he did have one rather risky idea, but he'd try if it came down to it. Following Azia out, he closed the door behind them and locked it, then set the key in his pocket.
Azia would let him lead once they where out of the hotel, "Well, you get any clues?" she asked him, standing close to him, her arm locked with his.
Ohanzee thought about it, then reached into his pocket to pull out the punched ticket. That had nothing but "Find Roger" full of holes written on the back of it. Not much of a clue, but it was in Gathero's handwriting. So that meant...maybe they could ask if there was an acquaintance of his around too?
Azia just shrugged a little, "I don't know about this... how is searching for someone going to help us keep a low profile? Especialy when we don't know who he is, or what he does?" Azia asked.
Ohanzee frowned thoughtfully. She did have a point. Crossing his arms, he'd try thinking of places to start. Gath was a doctor, so maybe then...ah! Reaching out, Ohanzee would take Azia by the hand and lead her downstairs, forgetting that was rather out of place for his "position", though he didn't seem to care what the hotel staff thought.
Azia blinked a little and followed him, muttering something about not just grabbing her in public. She smiled sadly at a few onlookers, and tap her head with a sad smile.
Ohanzee would've guided her back down toward the otherside of town. He figured they should start with someplace close to the train station and work their way back to the hotel. The more they covered, the less they'd have to worry about the next day and the day after that. Ohanzee was planning to visit doctors, dentists, and anybody else in a medical profession to see if they knew Gathero or Roger. Of course, Azia was the one that was going to have to ask, which was why he'd stop dragging her along after they reached the first office.
Azia went into the first office and rang the little bell, making sure Ohanzee was still standing behind her. She'd sigh a little and lean on the counter.

The first office they walked into... was actually.... very wet. Things were stacked up on beds and tables, and the floor would be covered with an inch of flood. Either someone had left the bathtub running or... A hiss would come from one end of the room and one could see a jet stream or so. A cry of "WWRRRAAAAGGGGHHH!!!!!" followed by a really harried looking german shepard as he dashed across the room ignoring the customers who entered. In his hand he was carrying some tape and a tool box. So maybe it was more than a bathtub left to run. They had hit the right place though for the person's name was on his desk... rather unnoticable next to a large pile of books. "Dr. Roger Antony".

Azia's eyes widened at the condition of the place, it was... dismal. When he ran by her, sh'd reach out and make to grab his collar, "What's going on?" she'd ask, seeking to help so they could bet their answers sooner from the man. Her fluffly tail flicked anxiously behind her as she stared him down. Azia was in a mood for action and answers... the sooner she finished, the sooner she got to try and pounce Ohanzee when he wasn't paying attention.

Roger found himself being held back by a lady. "Let me go lady! I need to fix the leakage before it gets worse!" he cried as he struggled free and dashed into the basement. This would soon be followed by an exclaimation of "HOLY!" followed by the sound of something hammering against something... then silence for a bit... then screaming as he rushed out from the basement. But that would be the last of it really. The water level stayed where it was but no more leaks were sprung. The shepard looked harried and who could blame him? "Really sorry about this, if you could come back another day," he said as he tried to shoo the both of them out.

[Gath always makes such colorful characters. ] Ohanzee just...stared. It really was a lucky break that they found Roger on their first try. Honestly, he could see why Gathero would be friends with this guy. Rather than try to stop him like Azia did, he'd just stand by and watch until attention was grabbed. It was too entertaining not to watch. Unlike Azia, he wasn't in any hurry to leave, which had him disappointed when the leak was fixed and they were being asked to do so. Reaching into his pocket, he'd pull out the ticket again quickly and hold it up the doctor to see. Ohanzee couldn' speak, Azia was more in a hurry to leave and probably wasn't going to say much to hinder that, so the only way he could think of to send some kind of message about Gathero sending them was to show that ticket. Of course, it was full of holes, so the sloppy handwriting was missing a few chunks; but hopefully Roger could tell it was at least a little familiar?

Azia blinked, taken back by being called 'lady' yet she behaved... for now. When he strated to shoo them out she just nodded and started to make herway out before Ohanzee ruined her plans with the ticket. Seeing him hold it up, she stopped and sighed, "We were sent by Gathero." she said, not turning around to face Roger. There went her plan of relaxing.

The german shepard would blink a little at the mention of Gathero's name... "Gathero...Gathero..." he muttered as though trying to recall something. He reached over to take the ticket Ralph showed to examine the chicken scratches. There would be a long pause of silence before recognition finally went to his eyes. "Oh.... OH!!!!! Well if he sent you it should be all right... So erm... who are you and how can I help you?" he asked. It was clear that his attitude towards them had changed to be a little more hospitable... though it was slightly strained due to the fact the water wasn't yet draining out and his place was a mess.
Well he recognised the handwriting on it for sure. "All right... so did he send the both of you?" he asked tilting his head a little to the left in curiousity though looking at Azia since she was the one who spoke. The wolf was the one who had the ticket with his name on it.

Ohanzee felt a bit of relief wash over him when Roger finally remembered Gathero. Sheesh, some friend he was if it took that long for him to remember! The grey wolf would just look on while watching the doctor and Azia speak, only having given a nod when asking if they'd been sent by Gathero. He hoped they weren't asked why. He had abolutely no idea. The coyote never mentioned a "why".

Azia shrugged a little, "He sent Ohan here, I tagged along, cause he can't speak." she said, thumbing over her back towards she He stood. "So, yeah, you could say Gath sent both of us. She said, crossing her arms and watching this Roger character, she still wasn't sure she could trust him.

Roger stared at the both of them and nodded. "All right... so why did he send you?" he asked while signing the question out in sign language, wondering if Ohanzee knew sign language. The shepard may not look much but he certainly had his talents.

This had to be the first time in ages that somebody thought to use sign language with him, or could. Sadly, it wasn't something Ohanzee knew. Growing up, it was either be understood verbally, or shutup. He did the latter very well. Because of that, he'd just stare dumbfoundedly at the flailing paws and shrug lightly afterwards. Okay, this was going to be a little difficult...

Azira just shrugged, "He didn't say, as far as I know, that is." She siad with a sigh. "All we know, is that we where told to find you..." She looked over her shoulder to Ohan, "You got any ideas?"

Ohanzee shook his head slowly. He did have a small idea, but he wasn't sure if bringing it up with Roger was the best idea. He was sort of wishing now that he hadn't left his wanted poster with Chosovi - he might've been able to hand it over for a hint. Rushing outside to go hunt down another was going to look rather suspicious.
In any case, Ohan shook his head. Maybe it was a lie, but he didn't trust a total stranger enough to be fully open with him, even if it was a friend of Gathero's.
